About / Volume One
Sheffield. Hillsborough. Painters since 2015.
Richard Walton has been painting and decorating in Sheffield for years. The base is in Hillsborough, the work is mostly Victorian and Edwardian period properties across the western half of the city, and the job description has not really changed in two decades: turn up when we said we would, do the work properly, leave the place cleaner than we found it.
We are a small team. That is on purpose. It means whoever quoted your job is one of the people on site doing it. It means decisions get made quickly when something on the wall is not quite what we expected. And it means we are not chasing volume at the expense of finish.
A lot of what we do is the unglamorous stuff. Stripping wallpaper that has been there since the 1980s. Filling and sanding. Cutting in clean lines around old wonky cornicing on a Crookes terrace. Spraying kitchen cabinets so they look like new for a fraction of a new kitchen. The finish is what people remember. The prep is what makes the finish.
